Your Impact

As a Staff Engineer at Weel, you will be a key technical contributor working across our full stack to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that support the needs of modern finance teams.

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who wants to stay hands-on in software engineering, shape technical direction, and influence architectural decisions without direct people management responsibilities.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to solve meaningful problems, deliver new product capabilities, mentor through code and design reviews, and raise the technical bar.

Your impact will be measured by the quality of your solutions, the performance of the systems you build, and the example you set across the team.

Skills and more of the day-to-day

• Design and implement high-quality, scalable, and secure software across our tech stack (Python, Django, React, React Native, AWS)
• Lead the technical direction of features, services, and core platform improvements
• Work collaboratively with product, design, and engineering to define and deliver outcomes
• Serve as the go-to technical partner for product managers, offering strategic guidance and owning deep expertise in your product domain.
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code while encouraging best practices across the team
• Provide thoughtful feedback on architecture, technical designs, and code reviews
• Debug complex issues and take ownership of the solutions you ship
• Contribute to improving development workflows, tooling, and automation
• Stay close to production, monitor systems, and proactively address reliability or performance concerns
• Support continuous learning by sharing knowledge and mentoring others informally
• Help drive a culture of experimentation, accountability, and simplicity in engineering

Bonus Points

• Experience in fintech, payments, or compliance-heavy environments
• Strong product and customer orientation
• Familiarity with mobile-first architecture or offline-first React Native apps
• Experience with complex API integrations or third-party platforms
• An eye for technical detail and a bias for action
